La Plagne

Comprising 11 villages (Plagne Vallée, Montalbert, Montchavin-Les Coches, Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre, Aime 2000, Plagne Bellecôte, Plagne Villages, Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne, and Champagny-en-Vanoise), La Plagne is a ski resort established in 1961. Faced with the rise of winter sports and the growing appeal of skiing for tourists, ski champion Emile Allais visited the steep slopes of the village to scout them out. Later that same year, four municipalities joined forces to create the La Grande Plagne Intermunicipal Syndicate (SIGP).

A committed station

Thanks to this economic dynamism, La Plagne has profoundly changed the habits of its inhabitants and breathed new life into its mountains. In order to share its natural heritage, the resort has committed to protecting its natural spaces, developing infrastructure in harmony with nature, and raising awareness among tourists about the fragility of the environment.

Land of champions

La Plagne is proud to have produced winter sports champions who are now ambassadors for the destination. Kevin Rolland in freestyle skiing, Tess Ledeux in slopestyle, Antoine Adelisse in freestyle, and Julien Lizeroux, vice-world champion in slalom.
